2. First exam your cartoon. Second  find the primary focus. Third determine the audience if there interested or not. Forth understand the context of the cartoon. Fifth look for widely recognized symbols. Sixth look at minor details in the cartoon that will contribute to the humor or the point of the cartoon. 

3. For number one the use it to look at the cartoon to understand it. The second step they use to find the main purpose of the cartoon. Third they want to feel the audience make sure they like what there seeing. Forth they want to see the feeling of the text. Fifth they look for the big happening places in the cartoon. And Sixth they look for the details.
